The FSC (Forest Stewardship Council®) which was founded in 1993 as a result of the Rio de Janeiro environmental summit, is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that promotes the environmentally friendly, socially responsible, and economically viable use of the forests on our planet. The FSC® is supported worldwide by environmental organizations, trade unions, representatives of the interests of indigenous peoples, as well as numerous companies from the forestry and timber industry.
