Agro Add Fuel
The objective of the project was to develop an additive strategy for agricultural biofuels based on fuel indices and the characterization of raw materials. The aim of the use of additives is to improve the combustion properties of agricultural residues such as straw or corn cobs. The task of Holzforschung Austria was to produce a total of 10 tons of test fuels with various mineral additives and to evaluate the manufacturing process. Possibilities and limits with regards to the use of mineral additives of pellets from agricultural residues were shown. The biomass pilot plant BioUp turned out to be a powerful R&D infrastructure in this project.
