Electronic measuring techniques for determining stem curvature and taper
In the course of the review process for “ÖN L 1021 Measurement of round timber” questions arose concerning the determination of stem curvature and taper. To address these questions the cooperation platform “Forest-Wood-Paper (FHP) directed Holzforschung Austria to carry out a research project. A scientific comparison of different electronic measuring techniques for determining stem curvature and taper was the principal aim of this project. This project delivered the foundation for a consistent and valid rule for the measurement of these characteristics.
