The incomparable flair of many european city centres is based on the historic building stock with its finely structured façades and traditional casement windows. Due to the very long use of the buildings and windows, there is now a need for action after more than 100 years of use to upgrade the casement windows to be fit for another century. The aim of the project is to develop and document a comprehensive upgrade concept for the repair and modernization of casement windows (without listed buildings). In addition to the technical performance aspects, the ecological and economic aspects are also examined.
