EU Hardwoods
The use of hardwood in construction creates new uses and sales opportunities. Due to the European relevance of this issue, the project is funded as part of WoodWisdom-Net. The focus of the project is on the products glued laminated timber and cross laminated timber. Based on simulations, different structures are evaluated with a view to improving the strength properties and rolling shear behaviour. The most suitable structures are verified by tests. First results show great potential for improving the rolling shear behaviour of laminated timber. Furthermore, Austrian beech is being classified in the European strength class system in order to create the necessary normative preconditions for usage in the construction sector.
