Scope of this research is the integration of a thermal energy storage based on sorption materials into drying chambers for the industrial drying of timber. The technical drying of biomass is highly energy-consuming. Fresh air has to be heated prior to being supplied into the drying chamber, on the other hand warm and humid exhaust air is discharged during the drying process. A recovery of this waste heat by means of suitable sorption materials could contribute to significant energy saving.
