Joining techniques in timber engineering

research area: Building & living
project status: completed
design-element

Fasteners and joining techniques are of immense importance for both new buildings as well as for rehabilitation of existing defective or heavy-duty load-bearing timber construction. Therefore HFA made use of the prokis 04/2 program to extend its competence in this field. A particular research focus is placed on adhesive joints (wood-wood, wood-steel) as well as on mechanical fasteners. On site rehabilitation in solid wood elements or glued laminated timber represents a potential field of application. The second focus is placed on the development of new anchoring devices for buildings (e.g. gymnasia).
