LarchCoat

research area: Building & living
project status: completed
design-element

The increased use of larch wood in exposed exterior applications has risen the demand for durable coating systems for this sorts of timber. However, larch wood has proven to be a challenging substrate for coatings.

The research project LarchCoat aims at investigating the properties and variability of larch wood surfaces as well as the development of coatings on larch with good weathering performance. Furthermore, methods to detect problematic surface properties of larch wood will be developed.
