Log Surface
Advantages in storage and processing lead to many companies removing the bark from round timber only immediately before the sawing. In order to be able to make optimal use of these advantages, the “Log Surface” project aims at developing a fully automatic method for determining the round timber diameter under the bark.
Even at the highest industrial feed speeds, this method should detect with certainty the presence of partial debarking at the measuring points and calculate appropriate bark deductions accordingly. In order to solve the highly complex problem of bark detection, the information from a wide variety of scanners is interlinked.
