Strength testing lab


We offer comprehensive testing and examination options for all types of wood-based materials, WPCs, solid wood products, wood fasteners as well as component tests. With the different testing and experimental facilities, we are able to carry out a large number of normatively regulated test procedures in the accredited area. In addition, we can also process individual tests and test setups for prototypes as well as special questions.

Material testing

We offer tests in accordance with relevant national and European standards for the determination of physical properties (density, moisture), mechanical properties (strengths and stiffnesses under bending, compressive, tensile and shear loads, hardness, holding capacity for fasteners) and surface properties (scratch resistance, chemical resistance, etc.).

Testing the adhesion quality

We test the adhesion quality of load-bearing wooden components using a delamination test or a shear test. To determine the causes of incorrect adhesions, light or scanning electron microscopic examinations are also carried out.

Testing of timber components and timber construction systems on the basis of European regulations (EAD) and international standards

We determine the load-bearing capacity of the components at the plate level and as a washer, as well as the deformation behaviour of entire wall washers

Testing of fasteners

Tests to determine mechanical parameters for dowel-type fasteners such as self-drilling screws or rod dowels as well as the determination of the characteristic load-bearing capacities of connection systems in wood construction (heavy-duty and angle connectors, column feet, ...) are carried out on the basis of European regulations (EN, EAD, ...).

Our services:


Mechanical technological properties

We carry out tests for solid wood products and wood based panels in accordance with the procedures specified in the test standards EN 408 and EN 789. We also determine the performance characteristics specified in the various product standards.

Determination of the strength and rigidity properties of wall and ceiling elements

Testing of components in accordance with EN 408 and international standards as well as with the specifications of the test programmes, preparation and evaluation of the data, compiling an accredited test report.

Adhesion quality

For solid wood products, we check the adhesion quality of load-bearing wooden components using a delamination test or shear test in accordance with the test procedures specified in the harmonized standards EN 14080 and EN 16351. To determine the causes of incorrect adhesions, light or scanning electron microscopic examinations are also carried out. In the case of wood-based materials, we determine and evaluate the quality of bonding for solid wood panels and plywood in accordance with the standard procedures developed for this.

Determination of shear wall bearing capacity and rigidity

Testing the wall panel shear strength bearing capacity and rigidity of elements in panel and timber frame construction according to EN 594.
