In practice, window to wall connections are sometimes designed with a single sealing layer on the outside. On the one hand, this enables a reduction in installation effort and costs, but on the other hand, it also raises some questions about the vapour diffusion characteristics of such a design. Since there is no reliable published data from which it can be concluded that window to wall connections with a single exterior sealing do not lead to vapour-diffusion induced damages, the aim of the project is to clarify whether a one-sided external, airtight and rain-tight seal would be possible for window to wall connections with some design rules.
