Ensuring good and comfortable indoor air quality must be as energy efficient and emissions free as possible. Especially cooling became increasingly important. To ensure hygienic ventilation, ventilation systems are frequently used. This solution is often not suitable for existing building renovations and is not designed for summer night ventilation. Already existing windows could be the “low-tech” approach to reach indoor air quality requirements. The goal of this is to, for the first time, holistically investigate the potential of window ventilation regarding energy saving and air quality. The focus is on approaches like night ventilation and hygienic air exchange.
