Leimmeisterkurs

The manufacture of glued timber construction products requires a high level of expertise on the part of the people carrying out the work. The aim of the annual Leimmeisterkurs offered by Holzforschung Austria in the second half of January is to impart this basic knowledge. The course covers the basics of wood sorting, wood drying, gluing technology and the standard-compliant manufacture of products. The content is developed and taught both in lectures and in practical exercises.

Details

The Leimmeisterkurs has been successfully organised since 1995. The one-week course offers a well thought-out and tried-and-tested programme of theory and practice. Over the years, hundreds of workers have been trained.

The production requirements of the harmonised standards and principles of glued laminated timber construction products, such as glued laminated timber, glued solid timber or finger-jointed structural timber, as well as glued laminated products, such as cross laminated timber, are discussed in detail. Furthermore, bonded timber construction products manufactured on the basis of various European technical assessments are also discussed.

In addition to the theoretical basics, the focus will be on the requirements and practical implementation of factory production control. The course content can be discussed and deepened during a technical excursion and a joint dinner.

Participants & training

The course is attended by employees of glued wood construction companies and companies that process glued wood components in the construction sector. Completion of the course also fulfils the requirements of the relevant standards with regard to the training and further training of personnel.
